How to show similar and recommended objects

On the object page, add the "Other objects in section" element (random neighbors) or "Recommended objects" (a list you choose yourself).

  1. Open the object on the site as an administrator and click "Add field".
  2. In "Field type", under the "Object data" group, select "Other objects in section" or "Recommended objects" and save.
  3. Hover over the element that appears and click the pencil.
  4. For "Other objects in section", set "Number of objects" (default is 4).
  5. For the "Recommended" field, start typing a name or number in the "Find object by name or number" field and select from the results. The order can be changed with arrows, and extra items can be deleted.

Other objects in section — random objects from the same section, excluding the object itself. The set is different each time.

Recommended — a permanent list, and it belongs to the object, not the schema: each object has its own. You can take objects from any sections of the site, up to 50 items. A deleted object disappears from the list automatically.

The cards look the same as in this object's section: using its preview template or a regular tile.

If the elements are added to the shared schema, "Other objects in section" will appear for all objects at once. "Recommended" on the shared schema also appears for all, but the list must be selected for each object — while it's empty, visitors don't see the block.

If it didn't work

  • The block is empty and only the administrator sees it. Read the explanation in the block: the object has no section, the section has no other objects, or recommendations haven't been selected yet.
  • Visitors see the same set. The page may have been cached. For pages where randomness matters, enable "Do not cache" for the section.
