How to change the site name, title, and description

All of this is on the "About site" tab in the "General settings" section, with the "Save all" button at the bottom.

  1. Open "General settings" in the administrator menu and go to the "About site" tab.
  2. "Project name" — a short site name. It is displayed in the header and inserted into the browser tab title on all pages.
  3. "Home page title" — an expanded title of the home page for search results. Up to 60 characters. The project name is not appended to it — add it yourself if needed.
  4. "Home page description" — two or three sentences that the search engine will show under the title. Up to 160 characters.
  5. Click "Save all".

The "Home page keywords" field is optional: search engines have not taken it into account for many years.

The text of the home page itself is not set here: it is edited in the home section — with the "Edit section text" button.

The home page description also works as a fallback for other pages: if a section does not have its own search description filled in, this one is used. And if the home section has its own SEO title filled in, it takes precedence over the "Home page title".
